With growing investment, improved infrastructure, and a passionate fanbase, can the US realistically aim to be a global soccer superpower by 2030? What milestones must be achieved to reach this goal?

US Women soccer is already superpower but I cannot really say that about men soccer. I think Europe and some South American countries will continue to dominate soccer.

I believe the US has the potential to become a soccer superpower by 2030, but it’s a steep climb compared to the dominance of US women’s soccer. The women’s team succeeded through investment in youth programs, college soccer, and equal opportunities early on. For the men, we need better youth development, stronger domestic leagues, and a focus on competing globally.

I don’t think the US will become a soccer superpower by 2030. While there’s been progress with MLS growth and youth development programs, it still lags behind traditional soccer nations in infrastructure, grassroots culture, and technical expertise. Countries like Brazil, Germany, and Argentina have decades of history, passion, and systems ingrained in their culture. Soccer still competes with more popular sports like football and basketball in the US, which makes achieving superpower status unlikely within this timeframe.

The USWNT dominates globally, with multiple World Cup titles, but staying ahead requires maintaining youth development and expanding opportunities for women. On the men’s side, growing MLS, nurturing domestic talent, and competing internationally are key.

Even thoughe progress is evident with improving MLS and rising talent like Pulisic, the gap in global competition remains wide and I don’t think the U.S. will become a soccer superpower by 2030. . Structural issues in development, inconsistent league quality, and competition from dominant soccer nations mean it will take more time to reach that level.
