The Longest Games in MLB History

Post by Roman »

Baseball games can sometimes stretch into epic marathons. The longest MLB game ever lasted 25 innings in 1984 between the Brewers and White Sox. Do you enjoy these marathon games, or do you think they’re too exhausting? How do you think these lengthy battles test both players and fans.

One of the most memorable is the 1984 game between the Chicago White Sox and the Milwaukee Brewers, which lasted 25 innings—the longest game by innings in MLB history. More recently, the 2018 game between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Angels, which went 19 innings and lasted over six hours, provided plenty of drama and exhaustion for everyone involved.

For fans, these extended games become a test of patience. You’re invested in every pitch, but when the game stretches past the typical 3-4 hours, it can feel like an endurance event in itself. However, there’s something special about witnessing a historic game that goes the distance, where every play feels heightened because of the stakes and the length.
