The growth of soccer in the US faces several challenges. Football’s dominance in the sports landscape, limited youth access to quality coaching, and the relatively low media coverage are key hurdles. There are several challenges, such as a crowded sports market, limited media coverage, and a lack of consistent youth development pathways. While MLS and the USMNT are improving, I think the biggest hurdle is cultural—soccer isn’t yet deeply ingrained in American sports identity. Expanding access, investment, and international success could change that.
