The Legacy of Negro League Baseball

Post by Sora »

The Negro Leagues produced some of the greatest players in baseball history. How do you think MLB can continue to honor their legacy? Which Negro League player do you think would have dominated in the majors?

Formed during segregation, the Negro Leagues provided African American players an opportunity to showcase their skills, despite being excluded from Major League Baseball. Legends like Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, and Jackie Robinson became icons, paving the way for integration in the MLB. Their contributions to the game go beyond statistics, influencing the cultural and social fabric of America. In 2020, MLB recognized the Negro Leagues as major leagues, giving these athletes the recognition they deserve. Their enduring impact is felt in both baseball and society.
